This week has been the longest stretch oh heat that I have experienced in my four years here. We have hit 100 degrees each of the past 7 days and green canopy temperatures have hit 105 degrees!
The courses have held up pretty well overall, but we are going to take some precautions this week to protect the greens. We will alter our greens program until the heat lets up so that we prevent any serious damage to greens. You may see a slight decline in green speed this week, but we will return to normal as soon as we get cooler temps.
Also, we are trying some new methods to eradicate bermuda encroachment on the south greens. You may see some areas thin out where we kill the bermuda. We will start plugging out those areas with good turf this week.
